12 MONTH INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING PLACEMENT PROGRAMME
Undergraduate Careers
We are looking for highly motivated university students with a clear passion for engineering and innovative technology, keen to gain skills, knowledge & hands on experience in a fast paced design, development and manufacturing environment.
Successful candidates will develop an understanding of axial-flux motor technology and key manufacturing methods, within our exciting, market leading company.
Overview
-
Programme
The undergraduate programme provides valuable engineering, materials, manufacturing, and business learning experience, and will be of significant benefit to your future development and career.
-
Project
You will have the opportunity to choose an individual project, to allow you to test the skills you have developed and provide the basis for a report and presentation at the end of your placement, to satisfy any requirements of your academic course.
-
Skills
This placement will provide an opportunity to own a project, demonstrate responsibility and develop interpersonal skills within an engineering environment.
Engineering Departments
Learning to use engineering software which may include CAD or Finite Element Analysis tools, to design and assess E-motor components and assemblies, considering structural, vibration and thermal duty.
Develop an understanding of axial-flux motor technology and key manufacturing methods. Using Computer-Aided Engineering to apply simulation techniques to develop robust motor designs.
Contributing to understanding mechanical and thermal behaviour of the motor and relevant subcomponents. You’ll be contributing to developing components and robustness, working hands-on with test equipment to aid product development.
Execute and automate tests of controller software & gain experience with automotive calibration tools for data logging and tuning. Developing Matlab scripts for analysis of logged measurement data to check compliance.
Assisting in the evaluation of manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, testing, assembly, tooling and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators and engineering teams.
Developing core mechanical engineering knowledge including materials, data acquisition and analysis, computer-aided design, and more. You will be assisting in the innovation of materials, prototype parts and new manufacturing processes.
Executing test plans to prove functionality, performance and durability. You will be liaising with external test houses for the delivery of tests, including reporting and maintaining to agreed schedules.
About You
-
Background
Successful candidates will likely come from an engineering background and be able to demonstrate a keen approach to new challenges and an eye for detail.
-
Mentoring
You will work as part of dedicated engineering teams on customer projects and will be mentored and coached throughout your placement.
-
Innovation
You will have the freedom to innovate and develop solutions to real challenges.
The Selection Process
Candidates will be hired into different specialist Engineering disciplines as above.
Selection will be based on the skills demonstrated during the interview process, combined with academic background and past work experiences.
