Manufacturing Engineer
Join our manufacturing engineering team! Work on the latest cutting-edge technology, optimising production, innovating processes, and driving efficiency for the manufacture of our Axial Flux motors.
Summary
YASA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to be responsible for designing, optimising, and supporting manufacturing processes to ensure safety, efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness through our manufacturing processes.
This role supports cross-functional teams to enhance production process capabilities, maintain equipment, and drive continuous improvement across all SQDCPE (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Environment) key performance indicators.
About YASA
YASA, a Mercedes Benz group company, is leading the way in EV Motor Revolution with our patented and unique Axial Flux Technology. Our motor is more powerful, lighter, and smaller than our competitors. Our spirit of innovation drives us to continually explore and test new technologies, a mindset that exists from early-stage R&D projects through to manufacturing optimisation. We stay true to the freedom and flexibility that drove our success as a start-up, alongside having the stability, security, and roadmap of an established organisation.
What You'll Do:
- Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations and standards, including the creation of risk assessments.
- Create and maintain process documentation including Process Flows, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and Standard Work Instructions.
- Design, develop, and optimise manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems.
- Select, procure, install, and maintain production equipment and tooling.
- Implement and maintain quality control measures across manufacturing processes.
- Act as an escalation point for production staff on process or equipment concerns.
- Analyse production data to sustain and improve SQDCPE performance.
- Utilise root cause analysis and other problem-solving tools to resolve production issues.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation within manufacturing engineering control systems.
- Provide training and support to production staff on new or revised processes and equipment.
- Collaborate with product development teams to evaluate and enhance product manufacturability.
To succeed in this role, we believe you'll need:
- A qualification in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
- A strong understanding of manufacturing principles, quality systems, Lean methodologies.
- Familiarity with PFMEA, control plans, and process documentation standards.
- Proficient in data analysis techniques and continuous improvement tools (e.g. 8D, PPS, RPS)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A flexible approach to work with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
Though not expected, it would be very beneficial if you have:
- A degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
- Experience working within an automotive Tier 1 environment
- Experience with CAD software, ERP systems, and manufacturing data systems.
Our mission is to lead the design and delivery of the best electric motor technology available. We believe that diversity of thought, and experience is a key driver of innovation. Research shows that while men apply to jobs if they meet ~60% of criteria, women and those in traditionally underrepresented groups tend to only apply if they check all boxes. So if you think you have what it takes but don’t meet every single point, please still get in touch. We’d love to have an initial chat and see if you could add value.
