Summary

YASA is looking for a Senior Integration Engineer to support the integration of mechanical and electrical designs of controllers that arise from new product designs, customer requests, and other ad hoc activities. This position is for a 6-month Fixed-term Contract.

• Developing ideas and design solutions for practical challenges arising from new product design.
• Detailing and designing 3D and 2D CAD models and drawings using best practice geometric tolerances, key characteristics, and drawing standards. Working with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.

• Understand design for assembly and constraints for high-volume manufacture.
• Perform material selection and mechanical FEA analysis on components and assemblies.
• Provide detailed input to the team to ensure the overall design meets requirements for functionality and manufacture.
• Support the development of manufacturing processes and novel designs for new technology applications and materials.
• Support DFMEAs and complete actions required to mitigate risks.
• Support new business opportunities with information and guidance on the use, packaging, and application of YASA motors.
• Liaise with key suppliers and customers on design and development issues, resolve to the optimal solution and understand the compromises.
• Undertake any other duties that may be considered appropriate.

To succeed in this role, we believe you'll need:

• A relevant degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering with considerable experience in a design and development environment.
• To be an experienced user of Siemens NX, with the ability to create design concepts and fully dimensioned drawings working to BS8888 with best practice geometric tolerances and key characteristics.
• The ability to undertake and interpret FEA studies and propose solutions/improvements to design issues.
• Experience with drawing control systems such as Teamcenter.
• To have a strong mechanical or electrical engineering background, but more importantly, be able to apply knowledge to real-world situations.
• A familiarity with FMEAs and robust engineering practices.
• Exposure/experience of packaging power electronics assemblies.
• Exposure/experience of high current bus bars.
• A flexible approach to work and the desire to thrive in a dynamic and exciting fast-moving environment.

Though not expected, it would be very beneficial if you have:

• An appreciation of designing to maintain electrical spacings.
• An appreciation of designing for environmental conditions expected on vehicles e.g. vibration, temperature, humidity, and sealing (IP68/IP6K9K).
• An appreciation of thermal design using water/glycol-based cooling.
